The Logic of Space – Exhibition Opening and Lecture by Architect Robert Konieczny
As part of a special series dedicated to contemporary architecture, the Voelkel Foundation hosted Robert Konieczny, acclaimed architect and founder of KWK Promes. In his lecture The Logic of Space, he presented his distinctive design philosophy, where space is not merely the backdrop for architecture but its main protagonist.
Konieczny showcased several projects in which space becomes a dynamic tool of communication, function, and form. Among them was the PLATO Gallery in Ostrava, a finalist of the prestigious EU Mies van der Rohe Award and recognized as one of the five best architectural projects in Europe. He shared behind-the-scenes insights into the design process, highlighting the fusion of contemporary solutions with urban and social context.
A special focus was given to Aura in Poznań, a project co-created by Konieczny. Covered with a living façade of 140,000 plants, the building was conceived in direct response to climate challenges. The lecture offered an opportunity to reflect on the future of design, sustainable construction, and the responsibility architects bear toward communities.
The event concluded with an engaging Q&A, leaving the audience with an inspiring vision of how architecture can truly impact everyday life while addressing global challenges.
