Pogo, Teatr Polonia

Aula Artis, April 5, 2024

A story about the body and emotions — both others’ and one’s own — seen through the eyes of a doctor who spent years saving lives. The play reveals the world of emergency medicine without myths or fiction, with boundless empathy and raw honesty.

On April 5, 2024, Aula Artis in Poznań staged Pogo, directed by Kinga Dębska, featuring a moving performance by Marcin Hycnar, awarded the Grand Prix at the TEATROPOLIS Festival of Acting Art. The monodrama is based on the book by Jakub Sieczka, a doctor and anaesthesiologist who worked for six years in Warsaw’s ambulance service. It is a raw, direct, and at times brutally honest account from a man on the front line — about patients, loneliness, helplessness, and burnout.

Live music was created by Radosław Luka, who also appeared on stage, entering into dialogue with the actor and enriching the performance with its sonic layer.
