The Rite of Spring: Prelude - Monika Błaszczak, Luisa Mateo Dupleich Rozo
The performance of The Rite of Spring: Prelude was an encounter between two bodies — their blood and breath. Drawing from the depths of the human body, from the interweaving of tissue and memory, the artists created an ode to the desires of human skin.
This work was both a ritual celebrating the creative force of spring and an elegy for the losses brought about by the climate crisis. Drawing on experiences of migration, war, and queer corporeality, the artists wove a stage landscape that intertwined South American and Eastern European heritage.
The event unfolded as a poetic meditation on intimacy, desire, and memory — on a garden growing from the body, relationships, and community. In a space where time is nonlinear and identities fluid, the performance celebrated fertility, youth, and belonging as an act of resistance and a hope for the future.
